Ali is 25 yrs old, 168 lbs, and Mohammeds daughter. Martin is 144 lbs 35 yrs old and has not fought many rounds last 2 years.

I dont think it matters, I think Christy wins with 6th round TKO. I like the + here. Ali has no quality wins, if fight isnt fixed , Ali has no chance. Ali has only beat 1 fighter with winning record, she is more of a slimeball than her dad.

rail,
i follow the fight game closely, albeit womens not as close.
i hear ali is a big fave, what is the line.
christy is way past her prime and was overhyped by don king in the first place.
ali has her by about 15 pounds, a huge advantage.
i think ali wins easily, but depending on odds whether it is worth wagering or not.

by the way i know laila and her husband johnny, she is not a slimeball and really is a quality person. she went to unlv and was sorta forced into the boxing game.
it turned out shes very talented.

of course lucia rijker would wipe the mats with either of these two, but we'll never see that.

Slimeball? If you don't consider Ali, the dad
one of the best heavies ever, perhaps tennis
is your best bet. Laila is dedicated to her
sport and will knock the fat midget out.

Laila Ali will outpoint Christy Martin with 100% certainty. There is no question that Ali is the better boxer here even though she is not fully developed as a fighter. She will only continue to improve with each and every bout and at this point in time, there is no one that can compete with her. I even see a possible stoppage if Ali can land her jab enough.

In Martin's last bout, she did not look very impressive. She managed to get the victory because her opponent, St. John, was not strong enough to keep Martin at bay and allowed Martin to be the aggressor in the bout. But in this matchup, Ali will be stronger and have every advantage as she is a very skilled technician in the ring. I see her controlling the fight with her jab. I see Martin throwing wide looping punches because she lacks the reach and height to effectively utilize her jab.

The reality of the matter is that in spite of Martin's record and experience, Ali is the better boxer and talent in this matchup.

My prediction: Laila Ali wins by UD.

also like ali here.....don`t like her or her dad....and have always thought that m.ali was very, very good....not nearly as good as the media hype has led everyone to believe....when a guy lays on the ropes for 2.5 minutes of a given round doing nothing, then flurries for 10 or 20 seconds and gets the round, something is very wrong....sort of like "the empereor has no clothes"....a poltically sensitive time, when the race issue was a darling of the media...the stand against the vietnam war..a very unpopular war and the media loved him..he was loud, abrasive and was great press.....and the heavyweight division was absolutely poor during most of ali`s years....i still say that an older, more mature foreman fighting at a more neutral venue has an excellent chance at getting ali out of there...and i strongly believe that larry holmes in his prime was the better heavyweight.....

but,the squeaky wheel gets the most grease....look at nasseem hamed...camacho....jorge paez..and fernado vargas to a lesser extent..all very good fighters...vargas has much talent....but he falls just below the mosely`s and the delahoya`s.....a big mouth and marketing got him a very undeserved decision vs winky wright..having a big mouth and a being a total bore pays off in boxing...thanks for that,ali... .. .all very good fighters....better p.r. men...

that aside,i agree with green that in her prime, despite the size difference, lucia rijker is hands down the class of women`s boxing....

christy martin couldn`t get bogus mia st john out of there....i doubt that she has much of a shot against a much, much bigger woman with "some" skills....

christy`s looking a little matronly lately....hit the gym,girl....

Give your head a shake, Railbird. Martin has no chance. None. She almost lost to Mia St John.

Be advised; Martin REALLY believes she is going to win. Lots of fighters think they CAN win, but
Martin is putting her money where her mouth is.
Enough said.

Some fat cow from Oklahoma with a 1-3 record knocked Leijla down and then judges gave very controversial dec to ali.

Not at all. You may be mis-interpreting what I
just posted. Christy is putting her money up
on this one is just general info, and I cannot
elaborate, but this is "word up" as they say
in the hood. I put this out there for perusal
by all, not to indicate a change of heart.
I will not bet on this fight unless I find a prop at a price I like, as I don't lay -500
on anything.

very wise advice,franks.....laying 5-1 can be hazardous to your bankroll....especially in a sport in which there are numerous circumstances that are uncappable(cuts....d.q`s....and an awful lot happens at the disgression of one individual-the ref)....

i try and draw the line at 3-1....and that`s very unusual for me...i`ve been burned at 3-1 and it doesn`t feel good....

If anyone can find me low odds on Laila Ali, like - 300 or less... I share a big secret with you all. It has to be with a good sportsbook.

What are you smokin'? Ali is definitely among the top 2 or 3 fighters in womens boxing. I am not saying that she is the best that she can be, but compared to what is out there in womens boxing, it can be argued that she is the best.

The purple haired dike she beat the last 2 times is the only fighter she has beat with a winning record, Martin has much more talent.

Did you ever think we would anticipate two women fighting? I'm really looking forward to this one... but I'm taking Ali all the way. This will be Martin's last fight and she is doing this for a payday.
